I need your urgent help.

The sweltering heat of our city’s summers is as deadly for homeless youth as the bitter chill of winter winds. Heat stroke — where the body temperature can rise so high that brain damage and death may result — is just one of the many serious threats I’m concerned about for homeless youth on hot, smoggy days like today.

Will you please help save a young life and provide relief and a safe place for Toronto’s homeless youth before tragedy strikes?

Your urgent gift of $25, $50 or $100 is needed right now so our two emergency shelters can ensure the homeless youth fleeing the deadly heatwaves have a safe refuge.

As the heat rises so does the demand for safe shelter…

According to the latest figures released by Shelter Support and Housing Administration, an average of 4,095 people a night stayed in our city’s shelters this past month! This is more than on any previous summer months on record… (To put it in perspective for you, in February — the coldest month in Toronto’s history — the average number of people who stayed in shelters was barely higher at 4,191).

Your life-saving donation of $20, $50, or $100 to Eva’s doesn’t just shelter vulnerable youth from the dangers of living on the streets in the summer.

You are giving Toronto’s homeless youth the counselling, education and life skills they need to transform their lives. You are helping them leave the streets permanently and build healthy, productive, independent futures.

This summer, let’s make a real difference for homelessness youth together. Please be generous and give a tax-deductible donation today!

Alanna is the Director , Development and Campaigns at Eva’s, where she is leading a team responsible for fundraising to support Eva’s three shelters and programs that help homeless and at-risk youth with a fresh start.
